Today is what is life, tomorrow is what is always strife

What is more dangerous?

Silence or the screaming sound,

loneliness or the people all around.

What is more dangerous?

People or the masks hell abound,

love or the hatred without any bound.

What is more dangerous?

Meek or the violent sound,

Pain or the hope that might surround.

What is more dangerous?

Height or the graveyard mound,

Life or the helpless sound.

What is more dangerous?

Friend or the critique who hound,

Life or the death that can’t be downed.

I may never know,

If it’s the healing ice or the chilling snow,

I may never know,

If it’s the anger or the passion that goes with flow.

I may never know,

If it’s I or you who blow.

But I do know.

Today is what is life.

Tomorrow is always strife.

Limited is what is opportunity.

Plenty is what is responsibility.

Duty is what is surety,

Future is what is cruelty.

(In memory of the girl who died in Singapore today. I have never seen her. She could have been my friend, my sister or my lover. But death at 23 just because she was a girl. I can’t believe.

May your conscience get alive with her death.

May your attitude towards women change with her death.

May you start living like a true human.

May you stop discriminating among all people.

May your manhood move beyond your pants.

May you come forward in making this place better. Better for me, you and all who would follow.

Don’t get aroused. Its not the failure of the government. Its not the failure of the doctors who treated her. It is the failure of our collective conscience. Its the failure of our abilities.

Its the failure of the so called ‘greatness’ we often claim to inherit by the virtue of being an Indian. Its everyone’s failure.

Would you all promise to change the scenario?

Would you all promise to stop discriminating between men and women, between rich and poor, between able and disable, between learned and ignorant.

If you would then only this place would be worthy of life. Else death is everyone’s forte.

I don’t know about souls. I have not seen them. If they exist then I pray. May she rest in peace…
